UAE Ministry of Labour extends deadline for Emiratisation targets

June 15, 2023
3 min read

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has announced an extension of the deadline for meeting semi-annual Emiratisation targets for private sector companies with 50 employees or more. These targets imply employment of UAE nationals in accordance with the minimum quota aimed to enhance role and competitiveness of Emirati in the labour market.

The new deadline has been moved from 30 June to 7 July 2023. This decision was made to account for the upcoming Eid al-Adha holidays which fall on the fourth week of June. The Ministry aims to give companies additional time to reach their targets and avoid penalties. Non-compliant companies failing to meet the Emiratisation growth requirement of 1% will face a fine of AED 42,000 for each Emirati not employed starting from 8 July.
